Rigby & Rigby’s Project SW3 125: Featured in Elle Decoration
Rigby & Rigby played a large part in the construction and delivery of this unusual and eclectic property in the heart of suburban Chelsea, recently featured in Elle Decoration‘s April issue. An open plan canvas space highlights the striking architectural design by Rodić Davidson Architects and accentuates the colourful interiors designed by Suzy Hoodless.
The transformative project took nearly three years to complete with Rodić Davidson Architects structurally revising the building and Rigby & Rigby stripping out a whole floor to create a double-height living space. The extensive open-plan room is subtly divided into different areas for relaxing, lounging and dining. All that remains of the original first floor is the home office that sits on a mezzanine level. Three bedrooms, playroom, utility area and cloakroom, are all located on the lower ground floor that was excavated from under the original structure by Rigby & Rigby and spreads out beneath the garden.
The painted white walls are an ideal backdrop for the owner’s collection of contemporary art, full of vibrancy, colours and character, an artistic flare reflective of the origins of the building.
