The family values at the heart of Rigby & Rigby

Every one of Rigby and Rigby’s 125 developments across the last decade have been built and finished to the same exacting high standards.

Like a genetic code, each Rigby and Rigby development is marked out by the same originality of design, choice of materials, quality of craftsmanship, attention to fine detail and the building of trust and respect amongst clients, suppliers and neighbours alike by the diverse Rigby and Rigby professional and construction teams.

All of these qualities come from Rigby and Rigby’s parent company, family-owned British PLC, Rigby Group which has head offices in Mayfair and Shakespeare’s Stratford upon Avon.

Now almost eleven years old, Rigby and Rigby has expanded to include six divisions: Property Development Management, Private Client Services – Special Projects, Architecture Services, Interior Design, Construction Services and, recently, the launch of Private Client Services, Rigby and Rigby’s comprehensive maintenance, concierge property services and customer care.

Very much a British business, Rigby and Rigby works closely with some of the UK’s finest craftsmen and artists as well as sourcing raw materials from around the globe. The firm has also developed strong consultancy relationships with a number of British brands known for their exceptional quality and input and has built a reputation for excellence. The success rate of Rigby & Rigby’s RIBA accredited award winning Architectural team is 99% for the first planning application success, and they have been responsible for over £500m of GDV (Gross Development Value) since inception.

Iain Johnson, Head of Residential at Rigby and Rigby, said: “Like all Rigby Group businesses, Rigby and Rigby is built around the same five core principles: operational excellence, independent thinking, building partnerships, working with passion and caring for stakeholders and these values drive every aspect of our business from the first moment we meet with a potential client to the creation of Private Client Services, our new after-care service which extends Rigby and Rigby’s commitment to providing a seamless service well beyond the completion of a client’s home. We want our private clients to be completely satisfied and to build long term sustainable relationships with them based on trust, accuracy, excellence and transparency.”

“Our standards are born of values that Rigby and Rigby shares with a diverse group of sister companies, including revenue-leading European technology services business SCC, British International Helicopters, the exclusive Eden Hotel Collection and regional airport operator Regional & City Airports. Each business is naturally very different, but each, like our parent company, operates to these same standards and values, which have helped to turn the Rigby Group into one of the most successful family-owned businesses the UK has ever produced.”

The origins of the Rigby Group can be traced back more than 40 years when, thwarted in his original ambition to join the Royal Air Force, Sir Peter Rigby used £2,000 of hard-earned savings to set up a technology business which would operate with the same values that he had admired in the RAF. Today, the Rigby Group is a £1.8bn turnover International business with six divisions spanning aviation, technology, airports, hotels, Finance and real estate. This latter division Rigby Real Estate includes not only residential specialists Rigby and Rigby but also a successful commercial team which is developing an equally high specification property portfolio.

Sir Peter Rigby remains Chairman and Chief Executive of the family business, with son’s Steve and James taking on the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive of the technology division respectively. As well as leading the Group’s mergers and acquisitions programme, Steve Rigby chairs the board of Rigby and Rigby, a business born of his own passion for both property investment and world class design which has built an exceptional reputation as a super prime developer, achieving outstanding growth in its first decade of business.

Adds Steve: “I originally conceived Rigby and Rigby as a property development company. However, across the first ten years this talented, diverse team has shaped a much broader vision for the business and it is now one of the most highly respected super-prime development firms in London. Our fledgling team of 15, back in 2006, has expanded to more than 75 now and includes architects, designers, project managers, planning specialists and an award- winning construction company.

“The Rigby Group has always measured success against an aspiration to be trusted by customers and partners; dedicated to delivery; committed to our people; drivers of innovation and passionate about the business and its growth. In all these respects, Rigby and Rigby more than measures up to the Group’s aspirations.”

With two generations of the family at the helm, Rigby Group has built a distinguished reputation as both an investor and business operator across its six market sectors; renowned for its independent thinking, seamless execution and a peerless approach to acquiring and nurturing businesses to unleash their potential.

The Group, which grew profitability by almost a quarter last year to £22.3 million, averages £40m a year in acquisitions and investments, all from internal financing and its future ambition is to continue this stellar growth trajectory. The firm’s target, within the next decade, is to double the achievements of the past 40 years, creating a £4Bn business by 2025 and adding significantly to its current, 7,500-strong global team. The continued success of Rigby and Rigby lies at the heart of this ambition, building on the achievements of its first ten years to become respected as the premier super-prime property development business in the capital.
