London Design Festival 2019: Our Top Selection

Established in 2003 by Sir John Sorrell CBE and Ben Evans, London Design Festival celebrates and promotes London as the design capital of the world. London Design Festival has since earned the reputation as a key calendar moment of London’s autumn creative season and will be running from 14th to the 22nd of September.

It will be the festival’s 17th year and this year there will be an array of installations, talks, workshops and partner events, attracting the greatest thinkers, practitioners, retailers and educators to the capital, in a citywide celebration. Here’s our top selection ahead of the event:

New Product Launch by Ochre

This year Ochre will introduce some exciting new products, as well as some beautifully reimagined icons.  Presented in their brand new flagship showroom in the heart of the Pimico Road Design District, Ochre are delighted to showcase their unique designs in preparation for an exciting year ahead.

Chefs Table by Poggenpohl Chelsea

On Thursday 19th September Poggenpohl is hosting a live cookery demonstration with a Chef preparing a selection of delicious dishes using the latest Miele appliances. Spaces are limited.  As the world’s oldest kitchen brand, Poggenpohl has put its stamp on generations of bespoke kitchens. Since being founded in 1892 by renowned cabinetmaker German Friedemir Poggenpohl, it has not only garnered a reputation for precision engineered contemporary kitchens but also world firsts. Consistently at the forefront of innovation, the company produced the first solid wood kitchen – which single-handedly shaped the aesthetic of fitted kitchens – as well as the first white lacquer furniture and the first island kitchen. Today, it is represented in more than 70 countries.

Affinity in Autonomy by Sony Design

Translating innovation into perceptual experiences is the theme behind Affinity in Autonomy, an interactive robotic pendulum. Affinity in Autonomy represents thoughts on the future of artificial intelligence and robotics: envisioning a world in which intelligence, technology and creative design are more integrated. Sony Design believes that the relationship between humans and technology will evolve through deeper understanding of AI and its ability to display feelings.
