100th Project

AUTUMN/16

Six months into our 100th project, the 18-month redevelopment of a Grade II listed family home in an exclusive tree-lined avenue tucked between Kensington Palace and Holland Park, progress is on track and on budget.

Close collaboration between the architectural, design and construction teams has enabled smooth and swift progress on site, enabling Rigby & Rigby to demonstrate its reputation for sensitivity in managing complex development projects in London’s high-end residential neighbourhoods with the early installation of the top slab for the basement extension.

Following installation of the piles and capping beams, a garden-level top slab was installed in September. The result is creation of a sound-proofed box, in which excavation can continue without neighbours being exposed to the same levels of construction noise that might otherwise occur.

The ongoing basement dig also benefits from being protected from the weather, enabling Rigby & Rigby to be confident of maintaining the development schedule throughout the winter period. At the same time as the basement extension is being progressed, work elsewhere on the Grade II listed property has seen decades of render and paint removed from the façade of the property ready for restoration and redecoration and continued work to restore the property’s original interior features.

Marking Rigby & Rigby’s tenth year in business, the Kensington Mansions project sees the extensive restoration of the original property balanced sensitively with a modern and distinctive basement redevelopment. Rigby & Rigby is charting the progress of the project in a visual diary showcasing how the seamless collaboration between Rigby & Rigby’s in house teams will not only deliver a stunning family home in the capital for the client, but is also ensuring that neighbours in one of London’s most exclusive postcodes are not inconvenienced by the project.
